Good news! If you make minimum wage, you may be getting a raise.
Effective December 31st, many workers in New York State have received an increase in their pay rate, and will continue to do so for the next few years until the minimum wage reaches $15 an hour. The pay increase will come fastest for minimum wage workers with larger New York City employers, reaching $15 an hour by 2019. Workers in fast food, home care, and the tipped wage industries may be subject to different rates. Employees have a right to minimum wage regardless of their immigration status. More information about your rights with regard to wages, hours and overtime can be found on LawHelpNY.org.
